A surgical guide is a custom-made template that steers the position and angle of the implant during surgery.
First, a 3D tomography scan taken at an external imaging centre and digital impressions are combined at the clinic. In software, the implant position is planned with the bone, neighbouring teeth and nerve in mind. The guide is then produced from that plan.
During surgery the guide sits in the mouth and the implant is positioned through it. This makes the procedure more predictable. Not every case needs a guide, though; we choose the method that suits you together after your exam.
